The NMC has removed all the college infrastructure assessment reports from its website along with the reports posted by the Medical Council of India. Hence, the students or the members of the public cannot know what claims were made by a medical college during inspection for recognition and permission to admit students.

Fifty new medical colleges, opening in 2021 have led to complaints of ghost faculty in private colleges and mass transfer of ghost faculty from one Government medical college to another during the inspections. A retired Professor of a medical college stated that the online assessment report is important to ensure a standardized college administration with adequate faculty and infrastructure.

Dr. Mohammed Meeran, an RTI activist, stated that the MCI which was labeled corrupt and non-functional used to post reports of infrastructure assessment according to minimum standard requirements each year. Meanwhile, in response to Dr. Meeran’s application seeking an assessment report for the academic year 2020-21 and 2021-22, the NMC stated that the information sought is very voluminous and scattered in various files. Initially, the MCI has uploaded reports for about 550 medical colleges till 2021. However, NMC after replacing MCI in September 2021, removed those reports and uploaded a new list of 612 medical colleges with 91000+ medical seats. Hence, NMC has added about 60 new medical colleges since it took over. The reports of assessment for sixty new medical colleges along with the older reports are the ones that NMC has refused to share.
